2nd Sunday in Advent

Sunday, December 05
Peace…strength to hold on.

If peace were to show up at your door, what would it look like?

Putting into practice the way of peace will manifest peace in our lives and the world.  We will find peace with God, peace with others and peace in our actions – from home to communal life, and far beyond.  We will experience a deep, abiding sense within that we know our purpose and that by God’s grace we will live into God’s dreams for us.  Often we seek material things to bring us peace, but in seeking Christ, we actually find it.  This Christmas keep Jesus as the main character.

1st Sunday in Advent

Sunday, November 28
Hope…next year, things will be different.

What is your deepest hope this Christmas?

If we truly want a life-giving Christmas, drawing closer to God needs to take priority over any material desire on this year’s wish list.  In this first week of Advent we focus on living into eternal hope, carrying that hope for others, knowing that no matter what we go through, we are never alone.  God will break through our circumstances and shed light.

Advent 2010

Christmas is a season that is filled with joy and excitement.  In the midst of all the craziness of shopping, parties, cooking, and family visits it is easy we can go through the season and miss out on the experience we had hoped for.

This Advent we invite you to a life-giving Christmas – and to focus on the real, the authentic the things that really matter and the true gift of the season – life.  Not just any life, a meaningful life from a very part of God – God’s own son.  Hope, peace, joy and love are not just candles to be lit around an advent wreath.  They are facets of a living Christ to be ignited in our lives and our communities.

This Christmas invest in yourself and refuel for the New Year ahead as you journey with us through these Advent days.

National Coming Out Day

Monday, October 11th at 7:00 PM
Candlelight Vigil at Morningside Park (map)
Add Yourself to the Facebook Event (click here)

Rev. Judith Maynard will join Albuquerque Pride as one of the key speakers for this event.  National Coming Out Day is an internationally-observed civil awareness day for coming out and discussing gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersexed and questioning (LGBTIQ) issues. Come join our LGBTIQ communities and our allies at Morningside Park in Albuquerque on Monday, October 11th at 7:00 PM for a candlelight vigil.

In light of the recent suicides and bullying of our LGBTIQ youth, it is important for us to encourage all people, of all sexual orientations, to “take your next step” in living openly and powerfully on this October 11th.

We encourage you, on this day, to wear clothing and jewelry that utilizes gay pride symbols and colors. Our goal is to raise awareness of the LGBTIQ community among the general populace in an effort to give a familiar face to our LGBTIQ rights movement.
