This Easter we will be worshiping at the National Hispanic Cultural Center which is located at the intersection of 4th St. and Avenida Cesar Chavez.  Worship will be held in the Albuquerque Journal Theatre which seats over 600 people. There is plenty of parking and we have rented a golf cart for those who need it from the lot to the theatre!

Each Sunday we will be distributing invitation cards for you to share and invite as many people as you know – and don’t know!  We also need people to take flyers and invite cards to various places around Albuquerque.  Please sign-up in the Lobby after church.

The Albuquerque Journal Theatre is a beautiful setting and we will be able to create a meaningful worship service there.  There will be special music by several groups and more visuals through multi-media.  Come and be a part of the MCCA Easter Celebration.

For directions and more information about the worship site please visit the National Hispanic Cultural Center website [click here].

Entering into the Household of Jesus

During these next 6 weeks we will experience Christ, the living, breathing son of God that captivates us with his teaching, embraces us with his love and disarms us with his grace.

Lent is the period of time leading up to Easter.  It is a time of preparation of the believer for the annual commemoration during Holy Week where we reflect on the Death and Resurrection of Jesus. Lent is forty days long, and represents the time that Jesus spent in the wilderness before the beginning of his public ministry.

Have You Seen the Angels?

Last week we began Advent with the story of the angel Gabriel bringing an important message to the Priest Zechariah.  Like so many of us, Zechariah was just going through the motions of his faith.  He and his wife Elizabeth had lost hope that one day they would have a child.  Yet, God had a plan for Zechariah and Elizabeth – and Elizabeth would later give birth to John, who would be the one to “prepare the way for our Lord.”

Maybe this year the idea of Christmas seems more like work than wonder.  Maybe you are just going through the motions of preparing for Christmas.  It is my hope that you will remember that God came to us through the birth of baby Jesus and every year we celebrate this miracle and gift.

Angels bring us important messages - and remind us that God is still involved in our world and in our lives.

This week come to church at MCC of Albuquerque and hear about a young woman – Mary – who would give birth to Jesus – the Savior of our world.

I hope to see you this week as we continue our Advent journey.

Peace and love,

Pastor Judy

Sacrificing For the Future

Until you become a parent, you don’t realize the sacrifices your parents made for their children.

You may hear a new mom say,  I’m sacrificing my career to raise my child.   But it doesn’t take too long for her to realize the construction work in the homosapien department is quite rewarding.   It can actually be a joy and a learning opportunity to sacrifice.  Whatever you may unselfishly give up for your children, you do so in order to provide a better future for your child.
